Merry Christmas...
How DIVINE is this painting by my Brodie Girl last Christmas when she was only four and a half???Well hello there...weren’t we here just a few weeks ago saying a warm hello from BrisVegas
and filling you in on our comings and goings???
Yet again another year has flown by and I am struggling to figure out where it went...
but it seems another full photo album is proof that in 2009, we really got around...
It was a hard start to the year for me, as our precious Brodie girl began her first year at school, leaving us standing at the classroom door asking “Haven’t you gone yet guys?”. Under the direction of the gorgeous Ms Brennan, Brodie has had a wonderful year full of fun and learning and has really blossomed. She is now a keen swimmer and still loves all things creative, filling our home with many creations and beautiful drawings each week. The highlights of her year would be her 5th Birthday Fairy Party complete with her very own Fairy Godmother, a quick visit to glorious Cairns with Mummy and Nanna (while Daddy was there for work), and the return to Club Med Lindeman Island for our annual “Tropical Getaway in Paradise”. Brodie was also one of the main attractions at her Auntie Tissy’s Wedding in November, where she looked like a doll come to life in a gorgeous gown handcrafted by her Nanna. She proved to be a very helpful Flowergirl, stepping in to help Tissy place the ring on Uncle Simon’s finger.
Matt has thoroughly enjoyed his year, which has again proven to be challenging and rewarding. In February he accepted the role of ‘Senior Manager for Natural Resources and Environment’ with Canegrowers Australia. The role has provided him with many chances to get out on the land and enjoy time with the many Growers he has met along the way. He has still managed to squeeze in a few gigs and will be performing at Woodford Folk Festival again this December. Canegrowers is a wonderful organisation that has welcomed us all in as family. Due to Brodie being such a gorgeous cherub, we were photographed for their annual report and also a flyer set to be distributed to all schools in Queensland (we will happily sign copies for those who are interested J ). They have quarterly Board meeting dinners which spouses are encouraged to attend, and I too have made some lovely new friends.
The year for me has been full of so much love and laughter. My favourite days have been spent in Brodie’s classroom with her gorgeous Prep class. I count my blessings that my “day job” is a flexible one and I can ‘stop and smell the roses’ as such. Curly Jo has had a busy year with markets and festivals and again a huge thank you goes out to my Sunday casual Matt who has helped me at each Young Designer’s Market. I have grand plans for 2010 including an extension to the studio and aquisition of a third kiln...
perhaps training Brodie as a Studio hand too.
We are looking forward to another busy festive season,
and wish you and yours a most wonderful
and Happy Christmas...

I know it may sound a bit odd, but often I make something and I just know where it must go...
Don't worry I am not about to start chanting and give you a palm reading...it's just a feeling I get sometimes that a piece will bring a smile to the face of another...
Phew...are we there yet???
Well I am sitting here with a list as long as BOTH my arms of things to do before 1.30pm tomorrow when Brodie will finish school for the year...
It seems I am not alone in asking where this year has disappeared to, with Christmas a toe tingling 15 sleeps away...yes my FAVE time of the year!!!
Curly Jo has been busy at markets over the last few weeks, sweltering in the heat but surrounded by some lovely helpers (Matt), Stallholders Mel and customers too...
Sunday was fabulous again at the Southbank Young Designer's Market where I met a lovely new friend Mel Hoedel from Taybian Design. I have seem Mel's handbags at a number of markets this year so was thrilled to meet the lady behind the creations. It was also a treat to chat to a like minded business woman with grand plans for the future...stay tuned for details...
Mel has a great giveaway at the moment that is worth having a look at...details are as follows...
and I am not just blogging about this because I want the baggie...although that would be fabulous...

Some of my babies have a new home...
Well...
the question has been asked many a time of Curly Jo
as to whether I...
"Have a shop?"
And up until a few hours ago my standard answer
was to gesture toward my table and marquee and say proudly
"This is my shop"
(while also handing out my Business card with details of
my Online Store on it...)
But..
as of a few hours ago I now in fact do...
"Have a shop"
Well...
not actually mine as in
"mine mine ALL mine"
But...
Mine as in...
"With a hot new bunch of my pretty sparklers
on display and for sale"
If you are in the general area, or passing through...pop into
HANDMADE HEAVEN
and say Hi to Liesa
